Learn Bokashi Composting
for Kitchen Waste

Due to popular demand, buckets and bran are no longer available. If you would like to attend simply to learn more about bokashi composting, you are more than welcome.
By now composting is something we've all heard about, and maybe even something you'd like to try. Maybe you're trying to go green but don't have the space for a compost bin. That's where bokashi composting comes in handy. Basically a system of fermentation, the method has its roots in the Korean pickling tradition. Bokashi composting makes it possible for city-dwellers and anyone else with little space outside to lighten their environmental footprint by composting food waste. This method also allows you to compost oily foods and meat scraps that don't belong in an outdoor compost heap.
Speaker Daniel Cunningham with Texas A&M Agrilife Research will teach participants about this newer composting practice. Each participant will receive their own bokashi bucket and bran, which contains essential microorganisms, so they can immediately begin bokashi composting.
